The synergy between food and art is now widely appreciated in the world of modern dining. Jaya and I are delighted that the refurbishment of Bacco is complimented by this fine display of artwork by a selection of British and International artists. We ourselves own an original Victoria Webster Italian Cinquecento painting.
It seems appropriate that an Italian restaurant is carrying on the tradition of patronage, just as the Medici family during the Renaissance period supported artists and sculptors whose reputations are unsurpassed.
If you are interested in purchasing any of these paintings, which are all originals, please do not hesitate to ask me for more information. There is also a short summary about each artist and further works can be viewed on the website www.art-amis.co.uk.
Art-Amis literally means ‘art-friends’ or if you prefer, ‘friends of art’. As with a bookclub, where you don’t need to be a writer to discuss literature, or a wine maker to appreciate good wine, anyone with an interest can appreciate art.
We have a fantastic array of artists, which we meet at various previews throughout the year, and discuss which paintings we like, usually with a glass of wine in hand. We have regular exhibitions during the year at different locations where new artworks will be put on show.
One of our longest partnerships has been with artist Malcolm Fryer. At over 70 years old, time has not dimmed his enthusiasm and he is an inspiration to art enthusiasts everywhere.
Private appointments are available, collectors can call the office and arrange to see our entire range of paintings, in private, at our gallery space at Delamere House, North Hertfordshire.
